I wish I could like this place more, but alas.
There was a long line on a Saturday morning; when we stepped in, we were greeted by a quaint interior and a bustling atmosphere. All the signs were good, at least up to that point.
There was a long wait for our food. When it arrived, it was average at best, and certainly not worth the $40 we paid. The Country Fried Steak was particularly dismal.
Perhaps we visited on a bad day for the chef, but I don’t think we’ll be back.
I love that they keep some of the Cambodian recipes from the original owner in the menu. Really great place for breakfast and people watching. The tres leches pancakes were unreal. Had a hard time keeping them away from the rest of table. Shredded hash-browns were perfectly seasoned and the biscuits gravy portion was huge. We sat outside after a shot wait and glad we did.
One of the best American breakfast I had. Great vibe and the restaurant is in a classic western style little building. Portion is big and the steak and eggs are well cooked. Pancake is also very nice.
I was lured into this restaurant, thinking it had a charming local vibe. I decided to order a chicken Caesar salad to go. Although it took half an hour to prepare, I assumed it was because they were grilling the chicken fresh in their one-chef kitchen. I didn't worry too much about the wait.
After driving for about an hour and a half into Joshua Tree, we decided to stop and have our lunch. To my disgust, when I opened the salad, it was absolutely repulsive. More than half of the lettuce was black and slimy, and there was no trace of chicken whatsoever. What a complete disregard for customers and health violation.
The restaurant should be aware that to-go orders are often intended for guests entering the park, where no food is available. So at that point, I had nothing to eat. I promptly emailed the restaurant, including pictures of the unacceptable salad, expecting to receive a refund since we couldn't return to the park's entry point. Unfortunately, I received no response from them.
It is sickening to think that such an establishment would take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. I strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs.
My server Genesis was an absolute hoot. Hectic busy although she assured me this was quiet for a Sunday morning.
The biscuits & gravy was very filling. I wasn't even that hungry but heard in reviews this was the best breakfast cafe in California....and they ain't wrong!!
Great breakfast — comfort food style. It is technically pet friendly but outside only … even when it is 108 degrees outside.
Actually, as a traveler I struggled to find anywhere in the area that allowed pets inside. Quite disappointing but apparently state law.
Service and staff were amazing and friendly.
Not sure about the inside but the outside seating was comfortable and the atmosphere was pretty laid back. No wifi and prices were a bit higher that I would have expected.
Super delicious and friendly. It does get pretty busy so get here early. We arrived at opening time (7am) on a Sunday and by 7:30 there was a little wait. I enjoyed my omelet and my husband loved his pancakes with bacon and eggs. We also …
Friendly service, great food and affordable prices. The loaded hash browns were possibly the best hash browns I've ever had. A pleasant breakfast experience. Pictured is the Dueces Wild breakfast.
